Job Description
The opportunity
We are seeking a highly capable Senior Indigenous Business Officer (SIBO) to lead a geographically dispersed team of Indigenous Business Officers while maintaining hands-on involvement in complex certification, governance and Indigenous Joint Venture (IJV) assessments.
This is a senior role which blends:
Strong people leadership and coaching capability
Technical governance and financial assessment expertise
Operational oversight and workflow management
Strategic contribution to Indigenous economic integrity.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Indigenous Business, the SIBO plays a critical role in protecting the integrity of Supply Nation’s Registration and Certification programs while building a high-performing, culturally strong team.

More specifically, key responsibilities include:
People Leadership & Team Performance
Lead, mentor and develop a team of Indigenous Business Officers across multiple states and territories
Set clear performance expectations and provide regular coaching and feedback
Monitor workload allocation to ensure equitable distribution and timely delivery
Drive a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement
Support capability uplift in governance, financial literacy and interview assessment skills
Foster a culturally safe, inclusive and high-performing team environment.
Technical & Governance Oversight
Provide senior oversight of Certification and IJV assessments
Review and approve Certification Reports and IJV recommendations
Conduct complex Certification and IJV interviews
Assess corporate structures including companies, trusts, partnerships, not-for-profits and ORIC entities
Investigate and resolve complaints and escalations relating to Indigenous Control or compliance.
Operational & Program Management
Oversee new registrations and ensure compliance with our standards
Monitor registration, audit and interview volumes to manage peaks and troughs
Provide trend analysis, reporting and risk insights to the Senior Manager
Lead cross-team collaboration forums, particularly with Engagement and Member Services
Contribute to process improvement and operational efficiency initiatives
Ensure accurate CRM data integrity and compliance documentation management.
Strategic Contribution
Champion cultural integrity and strong governance standards across suppliers and members
Contribute to initiatives converting Registered suppliers to Certified suppliers
Support continuous improvement of Certification and IJV frameworks
Provide subject matter expertise on Indigenous business governance and economic participation.
Desired Skills and Experience
What we need from you:
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Indigenous societies, cultures and issues affecting Indigenous Australians in business
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the social dynamics, relationships and protocols of Indigenous communities
Knowledge and understanding of business structures (including sole traders, partnerships, trusts, not-for-profits, companies and entities registered with ORIC) and related governance documents, as well as a broad range of financial documents
Proven experience leading and motivating a team
Strong written and verbal skills
Excellent organisational and project management skills
Proven experience in business development, preferably within Indigenous communities
Ability to manage and prioritise workloads within tight timeframes
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships
Knowledge of government programs and initiatives related to Indigenous economic development
Familiarity with funding opportunities and grant application processes.

The successful candidate will be rewarded with an attractive base salary up to $101,200. (commensurate with skills and experience) PLUS super and additional benefits including:
